iTECH's Email Service for School Districts
|
|
iWayMail Designed Specifically for Schools
| Problem:
Some schools have not
yet provided Email service to all faculty, staff and students because of
a variety of legitimate concerns.
|
Solution:
iWayMail was designed specifically for schools by school Technology
Administrators to address these concerns.
|
Too expensive
|
iWayMail permits a single mail server to handle the District Email needs. Providing District Email adds no cost to the Internet service. Individual account quotas also permits control of the mail storage requirements. |
Too difficult to operate
|
iWayMail
has been designed as a Web Mail system. Each student and faculty member can have
their
personal address book, personal mailbox filing system and their
personalized signature file. They carry that with them when they
log in from any computer in the district --- or even over the
Internet.
Mail account management is automated and distributed so that the impact on the Technology Group is modest. |
|
Too risky
|
iWayMail has a
multi-dimensional approach to spam blocking that keeps the student and
faculty mailboxes clear of litter.
iWayMail has a language content filter which diverts mail containing obscene words into the Site Administrator mail box so that they can counsel the student on abusive language. |

Operations |
iWayMail is designed to provide centralized Email management, while offering building-level account management. All administrative tasks are done through built in web menus. Batch creation automates the initial creation of all accounts. Once accounts are created they can be activated individually. Typically each student will have an account like --- jsmith3@ourschooldistrict.k12.state.us Batch updates from the administrative computer keep the accounts and the account information current. Clean down software periodically removes dormant material. The District Operations group can backup the received Email from the District Email server on a periodic basis. |
|
System
|
District Wide in Scope and Operation iWayMail can be installed as software on the District's provided computer. But it is also available as a turnkey hardware with software solution for smaller districts and schools. iWayMail can be run on a modest PC tower or rack mount server. Or it can run on an Enterprise machine and interface to a raid disk array in a large Urban District. The iWayMail server and the iWayPatrol Internet Content Filter can be installed on a single machine. Building Level in Email Management iWayMail offers an optional building level and help desk management features. At the building level all of the Email accounts the students at that school can be "controlled" by a building postmaster or Site Administrator:
