What are my spam blocking options ?

There are a wide range of spam blocking options. They can be combined as appropriate for a given setting. There is the administrative blocking list that can be used to block mail for all the mailboxes in the district. Each individual can also create their own list of blocked addresses.

Spam blocking can be turned on for all messages with bad "to" addresses. Turning on this form of spam can be done by the site administrator or by the individual user. The mail is placed in the spam mailbox. They individual user can add addresses that might be forwarded to this mail server. They can also override spam mail treatment for specific addresses.

The third method of spam blocking is based on patterns of message content. Mail which contains spam indicator phrases will be sent to the individual's spam mailbox just as with the bad address case, the individual can specify that messages from a given source are not to be checked for content.

Does iTECH use the BlackHole list for spam blocking??

After experimenting with the various BlackHole lists that are available, we found they were ineffective in dealing with the way spammers are using the Internet today. Knowing the address from which spam was sent in the past, has little value since spammers do not "send" the mail from the same address again. Some forms of BlackHole lists end up punishing the victims of spam mail rather than the spammers.
